Excess water drains off to the bottom, the base of the flowerpot, so that the roots of the plants do not get rotten. The drainage holes also ensure the supply of oxygen to the roots, so that an anaerobic environment can be prevented. The underside of the flowerpot serves as a collecting tray, which not only makes the care of the plants easier but also more stable.
